North Cambodia
North Cambodia was not only deforested, it was also on fire. I rode through hundreds of kilometers of small bush fires, which made the days grey and occasionally air hard to breath. Though the fires seem to be a normal phenomenon for locals who didn’t seem to care much about them, even when flames were just 10 meters from their wooden houses. Riding at night at the full moon was an exciting experience, finding a camp site in the burning woods even more so. Eventually I camped on already burned ground as far from the flames as I could.
